A comparative study on the effects of intranasal silicone splints and silastic sheets on breathing post septal surgeries

Background: Septoplasty is a surgical procedure to straighten the bone and cartilage dividing space between your two nostrils (septum). If septoplasty performed alone or as part of rhinoplasty procedure, internal nasal splints are generally used.
 Objective: To compare silicone septal with integral airways silastic sheets after surgery in terms patient breathing (with splint place).
 Patients Methods: This study involved 50 patients who underwent septo-rhinoplasty due deviation. They were allocated into groups. Group A comprised 25 packed splints. B sheets. removed on seventh postoperative day. Clinical efficacy was compared using visual assessment patients' subjective status.
 Results: The both groups had similar mean ages: 27.8 years (range, 18-51 years) 25.84 18-48 B, respectively. included 58% males 42% females. tyspe septorhinoplasty 38% 62%, Breathing status significantly lower than at 7th day (p<0.004).
 Conclusion: Intranasal result less obstruction while place; thus, they can be used an effective alternative surgery.
